How many days will it take to deliver my boat?
Sailboats and trawlers travel 80-100 miles per day on the Intercoastal waterway

How much does the delivery cost?
The daily charge is $350.00 per day for the captain and crew, including our meals

Can I or an owner’s rep go along?
Yes, pleased to have you along to see how great the waterway is.

What do you do about weather
If the weather is too bad to travel, we lay over at no cost to the owner, other than any marina fees.

How much do you charge for days lost due to break downs?
$150.00 per day including labor for repairs the crew can perform at no charge

Can I go along and be trained on the ICW and boat handling?
Sure can.  Best way to learn the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway is to go along.

What are the advantages to using a yacht delivery broker?
None, that I can think of.

How do you figure out how much to charge per day?
We are cheaper then a plumber or having a root canal, and the ICW is more fun.

Who pays for the delivery captain and crew transportation?
The owner does, in addition to the daily rate.

How much will the captain and crew charge for meals aboard?
Captain and crew meals are included in the daily rate of $350.00 per day.

Do I pay for restaurant meals when the crew is in a marina?
No.  However, if you come along and want to treat us to a meal, that is great.

How do we keep in touch during the delivery underway on the waterway?
Our cell phones have good reception.

Can you do a fixed contract?
Yes, $350.00 per day plus fuel, dockage, repairs, and transportation, call Captain Merritt at 757-537-3763.

Do you have additional insurance for our boat during the yacht delivery?
No, check with your insurance company for delivery captain inclusion.

What if I don’t have yacht delivery insurance?
The ICW is perfectly safe.  However accidents can happen. Insurance is necessary.

What is the best way to find a good careful reliable delivery captain and crew?
Word of mouth.  The waterway is like a small community.  Or call us.

Do you take credit cards for delivery expenses?
No, but we do take personal checks and cash.

How much must I pay to reserve a date for my yacht’s delivery?
50% of the total estimated days at $350.00 per day.

When is the remainder of the delivery cost payable?
Once the yacht is delivered at her repositioning destination, the remainder is due.

Since you are retired and own your own sailboat, why take delivery trips?
We enjoy America’s great waterways and meeting new people.

How can I avoid unqualified and unreliable delivery captains?
Call us.  Check out our experience on the internet and via word of mouth.

Where do you live for transportation to and from the delivery?
Just south of Jacksonville Florida on the Saint Johns River.

I only need a short repositioning trip of just a few days can you help?
Probably, Just give me a call.

Maybe I should truck my boat, what do you think?
That could be a good choice.  I did that once with my schooner before retirement.

My boat needs repair work to prepare for the repositioning, can you do it?
You should have the vessel seaworthy upon our arrival.

What is your boat handling experience.
First went to sea in 1961, rose to commanding officer.  Owned numerous sailboats.

How deep of a draft can you take down the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway?
With an experienced crew, from Norfolk to Miami 6’ is dependable.

I have heard that the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway has draft problems?
Yes, but from many trips, we know the trouble spots and can avoid the problems.
